According to WTAD news, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has put the city of Quincy’s (Illinois) request for a rehearing regarding the dismissal of its license application for a hydropower plant on its May agenda. FERC will meets May 19, 2011.
Quincy has been working to appeal FERC’s February ruling that dismissed the city’s applications for the project at Lock and Dam 21.
“Obviously, we are pleased. This is a positive development, especially under the time constraints,” said Chuck Bevelheimer, project manager. “We appreciate FERC taking this up at this time.” He said they haven’t moved forward with putting developments into place; they’ve been in limbo, waiting on word from FERC.
